Potted plants on a workbench

Overview

(01)

A shop with care guides on every product page and a monthly plant club that brings people back.

The brief

Fernfield grows and sells around two hundred kinds of plant. Most customers walked in. The owner wanted to sell online without turning into a warehouse, and without answering the same care questions every day.

What we built

A shop where each plant has a light guide, a watering guide and a size-in-a-year picture. Shipping is limited to the plants that travel well, packed to a spec we tested with three courier boxes. The monthly plant club is a simple subscription with one email each month and a small discount.

Result

Online revenue more than tripled within six months, and most of the growth came from repeat orders. The care guides also cut support messages by about a third.

(03)

Every product page now does what I do at the gate: tells you where to put it and how not to kill it.
